I don't know about each of you, but something about a whole roasted chicken seems fancy to me. Honestly, the though of cooking a whole chicken used to intimidate the beejeesus out of me. But really, doing so is super simple.
What is even easier than roasting a chicken in a traditional oven?.... Cooking it in a crockpot.
With literally 5 minutes of prep, you can have a super tender and delicious roasted chicken that looks impressive and tastes ah-mazing!
Does it get any easier than that?!
How To Cook A Whole Chicken In A Crockpot
Step 2: Season the chicken with 3 tbsp. butter, thyme, minced garlic, salt and pepper; liberally sprinkle the seasonings and coat with the entire chicken with softened butter.
Step 3: Chop 3-4 large carrots, celery hearts, and potatoes; slice on large sweet onion.
Step 4: Place entire chicken and vegetables breast side up in your crockpot (you do not need to add any liquid when using this method to cook your chicken, the chicken will produce its own cooking liquids).
Step 6: Place ceramic bowl of your crockpot (that is holding the chicken and veggies) in oven and broil on high for 5 minutes to crisp and color the skin.
Step 7: Carefully remove the chicken from the crockpot, slice it, and serve it alongside your deliciously tender potatoes and vegetables that cooked alongside the meat.
Serves 6.
How is that for a super simple One Dish Wonder?
This is the perfect meal for when your entertaining guests but may not have enough time to labor for hours in the kitchen.
...This meal is so tender and delicious, your guests will think you spent hours prepping away!
What Is Your Favorite Meal To Cook In A Slow Cooker?
I am going to try this with a Chinese recipe for braised chicken and potatoes. I just needed someone to give me permission to stick the whole chicken in the pot! :) Thank you.
