I do not usually purchase these "specialty" beverages on the end-caps at my grocery store, but when I had a $0.55 off coupon that would double to $1.10 on top of an already reduced sale price, I figured that it would not hurt to give this product a try for a meager $1.16.
...This drink usually retails for $3.69 at my local Shaw's supermarket so $1.16 was a pretty decent price!
For only 240 calories this drink delivers a great 20g of protein.
...It was pretty much a perfect snack for a vegetarian like myself!
Only problem was that after a few sips there was a chalky taste and texture in my mouth that I simply could not overlook.
...The first few tastes were great, however!
Would I buy this product again?
...Maybe if I had another opportunity to grab it for only $1 I would try one of the other flavors.
But, would I ever pay full price? ...Probably not. The taste was not good enough in my opinion to rationalize such a steep price for only 10 ounces of a fruity, protein drink.
I could make a better protein smoothie at home for much cheaper.
How about you... have you ever tried an Odwalla beverage?

I've tried one, wasn't that impressed.

ReplyDeleteI agree, definitely does not warrant the expensive price tag! That is for sure!
I never have but I don't think I'd be able to handle that chalky taste!
ReplyDeleteI have been too afraid of the possible chalky flavor to try any of these. I usually just stick to the naked juice.
ReplyDeleteI love odwallas green juice called superfood- ive tried most of them and the protein drinks are all horrible and gritty except for the choco soymilk one. The juices are very thick and flavorful i use a half glass seltzer and bit of juice for an all natural soda
